Our Story is a new creative initiative empowering young carers to share their experiences through storytelling and illustration. In collaboration with a professional artist and writer, participants will co-create a compelling comic book that captures their personal journeys—expressing emotions, challenges, and moments of joy.

Young carers often face unique responsibilities that can leave them feeling isolated or overlooked. Through a series of interactive workshops, this project provides a safe and supportive space where they can explore their identities, develop artistic and storytelling skills, and connect with peers who share similar experiences. From brainstorming ideas to final illustrations, the book will be entirely shaped by the young people themselves, ensuring authenticity and representation in the narratives they choose to tell.

Once completed, the book will be shared with local schools, libraries, and care facilities, raising awareness and fostering empathy for young carers’ lived experiences. By amplifying their voices, Our Story challenges misconceptions about caregiving, celebrates resilience, and ensures that young carers see their lives reflected in literature.
