We’re currently seeking funding to run future iterations of Time for Us Club. Here’s why we are so passionate about this project:
Inclusivity: We’re breaking down barriers and creating a safe and enjoyable space for SEN children and young people, who are often overlooked when planning extracurricular activities.
Empowerment: Through our activities, we’re giving these incredible young individuals a voice. We’re also committed to protecting them from the exploitation and abuse they are statistically more likely to face when they’re not at school.
Relief for Families: We understand that school holidays can be challenging for SEN families. According to the Disabled Children’s Partnership, 80% of parents with a child with learning difficulties struggle to access support services during holidays. Time for Us Club aims to alleviate this stress by offering a dedicated space for SEN children and young people to enjoy bespoke arts activities with local artists.
Building Connections: Social isolation is a common issue for SEN children. A 2021 study revealed that over 90% of them experience this isolation. Through Time for Us Club, we’re fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment where they can meet, socialise, and build lasting relationships beyond our sessions.
Support for Parents: We recognise that parents of SEN children need support too. That’s why, in our next iteration of Time for Us Club, we’re offering wellbeing services, including mindful art sessions, yoga, meditation, and a welcoming social space for parents to meet, share experiences, and form a supportive community.
